On 24 October 2023, the American Physical Society announced that Prof. Qikun Xue, AAPPS Council Secretary 2008–2010, Professor at Tsinghua University, and President of Southern University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Ashvin Vishwanath, from Harvard University, are winners of the 2024 Oliver E. Buckley Condensed Matter Physics Prize. Oliver Buckley Prize is widely recognized as the highest prize in the fields of condensed matter physics. The 2024 prize is conferred to Qikun Xue from Tsinghua University and Ashvin Vishwanath from Harvard University for their “groundbreaking theoretical and experimental studies on the collective electronic properties of materials that reflect topological aspects of their band structure.”
Prof. Qikun Xue made breakthroughs in topological insulator and the discovered quantum anomalous Hall effect. Congratulations to Qikun! (Fig. 3).
