The Asia-Pacific region stands at the forefront of scientific discovery, technological innovation, and international collaboration. With its extraordinary diversity of cultures, economies, and research traditions, our region has become one of the most dynamic engines driving global progress in physics.
AAPPS was founded with a clear and enduring mission: to unite the physicists of the Asia-Pacific, foster scientific excellence, and strengthen cross-border cooperation. As our community continues to grow, with more physical societies joining AAPPS, we remain committed to this mission with renewed determination.
In recent years, AAPPS has expanded its role as a regional hub for scientific exchange. Our flagship conferences, including the Asia-Pacific Physics Conference (APPC) and the AAPPS Division meetings, have become vibrant platforms where world-class scientists and early-career scholars meet, share ideas, and inspire one another. We will continue to strengthen these academic activities and elevate their global visibility.
Looking ahead, AAPPS will focus on several key priorities:
- Deepening regional collaboration by supporting cross-border research networks and joint scientific initiatives.
- Empowering young scientists whose curiosity and talent shape the future of physics, and fostering an environment where early-career researchers can grow and excel, exemplified by the annual C. N. Yang Prize.
- Promoting openness and excellence by upholding high scientific standards, encouraging interdisciplinary exploration, and embracing emerging fields that will shape the coming decades, from quantum science and advanced materials to astrophysics.
- Strengthening the voice of the Asia-Pacific physics community through close collaboration with the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and other international scientific organizations, and promoting the AAPPS Bulletin as a strong and influential journal in physics.
At the heart of AAPPS is the conviction that science flourishes through collaborations. Our strength lies not only in our scientific achievements but also in our spirit of cooperation, inclusiveness, and shared aspiration for a better future. As President, I am committed to ensuring that AAPPS continues to serve as a bridge, linking nations, connecting disciplines, and fostering dialogue across the region.
