CosPA 2017: Group photo.

Since October 2017, we haven't had much activity except for the International Symposium on Cosmology and Particle Astrophysics (CosPA 2017), held from December 11-15, 2017, at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, Kyoto University. CosPA 2017 had 160 participants from around the world, and new findings as well as recent progress reports from various areas of research were presented. In particular, with the direct detection of gravitational waves from coalescing compact binaries, gravitational wave astronomy was a hot topic that was discussed intensively among participants.

Taking advantage of the fact that many DACG Executive Committee (EXCO) members were attending CosPA 2017, the annual DACG EXCO meeting was held during the conference. We also invited APCosPA (Asia Pacific Organization for Cosmology and Particle Astrophysics) general assembly members and some of the plenary speakers of CosPA2017 from the Asia Pacific region to attend as observers, to show to promising young researchers how these organizations are operated with the hope that these individuals will play active roles in our future activities. In this expanded EXCO meeting we discussed assorted issues that need to be solved in order to make DACG more sustainable, in addition to confirming our endorsement for a few forthcoming conferences, workshops and schools in the Asia Pacific area.
